I have been trained under the auspices of the Incorporated Society of Registered Naturopaths (ISRN) to be a “Straight Nature Cure” practitioner and believe that the body has a superb innate intelligence to care for itself if we ensure it receives the right nutrition, rest, exercise and emotional support. It is this advice and support which I attempt to provide to all my patients and to guide them as they make the changes necessary for health.
My journey to Nature Cure began when as a head-teacher, working in very challenging and stressful positions, I developed colitis and was informed by the medical profession that it was highly likely to develop into ulcerative colitis. At that time I was fortunate enough to meet someone, who having grown up believing in and living the “Straight Nature Cure” lifestyle, was able to introduce me to a Nature Cure practitioner. It was he who taught me the Nature Cure philosophy and supported me while I made the necessary changes in the way I lived.
The changes in my health were so dramatic and rewarding that I made the decision to train as a Nature Cure Practitioner receiving training from the Northern School of Massage (4 years) and Incorporated Society of Registered Naturopaths (5 years). I later successfully undertook a one year course of training at the College of Osteopaths in support of the Naturopathic gentle massage and manipulation I use in my practice.
If you are concerned about your health and feel able to take responsibility for your own well being rather than passing it over to the medical profession the philosophy of “Straight Nature Cure” may be the approach for you. If you have passed through the hands of the medical profession, or other practitioners, without success and feel able to take more responsibility for your own health then “Straight Nature Cure” may be right for you.
It should be noted that I do not use supplements, herbs or any other form of “medication”, believing that a well cared for body knows best and that acute illnesses are attempts to heal itself and maintain homeostasis, thereby avoiding the descent into the more troublesome chronic illnesses.
